DEVOA AW21 Collection
The research of designer Daisuke Nishida starts with the understanding of the natural human body movements. DEVOA constructs of pattern toward movement of skin, muscle, and frame for an action. The human body keeps evolving and degenerating which are one and indivisible as the ages go by.
The DEVOA Autumn/Winter Collection 2021/2022 is presented with a great set of editorial images that we would like to share with you through this post, plus some photos we took in collaboration with the endstation gallery. store in Munich.
The DEVOA 21/22 AW collection focuses strongly on the color and the texture of fabrics as a result of starting material development half a year before the design process. The fabric of the FW 2021 collection is made with attention to the quality of the thread, finding a perfect balance between thickness and softness. The designs are military-inspired.
Our two favorite pieces are the virgin wool shirt – a collaboration with the Italian designer Faliero Sarti in Italy – and the durable cargo dropped crotch pants, made of ramie and rayon fabrics.
DEVOA Virgin Wool Shirt
The shirt is made from a mix of virgin wool and canapa material which is unique to Italy to create a vintage look. In an interview with fascinate Japan, Daisuke Nishida states that the fabric of Faliero Sarti in Italy has a quality and atmosphere that is unfortunately impossible to produce in Japan.
What we like about the design is the vintage look of the shirt, paired with a thick black hood: a truly raw and extraordinary design.
DEVOA cargo dropped crotch pants
The AW21/22 DEVOA dropped crotch pants are one of a kind. The design can be described as military-inspired cargo pants with a dropped crotch and various pockets. The material this piece is made of is a mix of rami and rayon which makes the pants heavy and durable while at the same time it feels very comfortable to wear.
The ramie rayon fabric was made in the Bishu region. DEVOA asked them to increase the weight of the fabric to create a heavy atmosphere to suit the fall and winter products. “As the fabric ages, it will develop into a medium-weight fabric with a soft and beautiful drape. The more you wear it, the more the fabric will gain its vintage look.”, Daisuke Nishida states in the interview with fascinate Japan.
