Xaris Project

XARIS PROJECT is an independent clothing label conceived in Los Angeles and produced in Japan by a small team in Tokyo. Led by an anonymous designer known as K, the project develops an architectural approach to clothing in which geometry, movement and contrasting design languages are brought together within a single garment.

At the foundation of XARIS PROJECT is the Greek symbol χ and the concept of chiasmus: a crossing structure in which opposing elements intersect. This principle informs both the construction and visual language of the collections. Structured outerwear meets eased tailoring; rigidity gives way to fluidity; geometric forms are softened by the movement of the body. The resulting garments deliberately occupy an intermediate state — neither entirely one thing nor another.

Outerwear and tailoring provide the project’s primary vocabulary. Coats, blousons, jackets and trousers are manipulated through elongated proportions, asymmetric construction, rotated seams, dimensional pockets and carefully controlled volume. Signature converging sleeve cuffs and spiral hems translate the meeting of triangular and circular geometry into three-dimensional form, allowing abstract ideas to become functional elements of a garment.

Architecture is a persistent reference. XARIS PROJECT draws from modernist and Brutalist structures, Japanese spatial thinking and historical visions of the future, translating architectural concepts of mass, void, light and geometry into clothing. References have ranged from Tadao Ando and Japanese Metabolism to Streamline Moderne and mid-century transportation design. These influences are absorbed into pattern cutting and silhouette rather than reproduced as decoration.

Material development gives these structures their physical character. Produced in Japan using premium Japanese textiles, collections move between substantial steer leather, denim, wool and technically unusual materials such as washi blends and milk-protein cotton. Fabric is selected as much for behaviour as appearance: stiffness can establish architectural volume, while softer textiles allow the same geometric ideas to collapse and move around the body.

This tension between permanence and movement defines XARIS PROJECT. A coat can carry the visual weight of architecture while remaining responsive to the wearer; tailoring can retain precision without becoming formal; technical outerwear can acquire the elongated proportions of an avant-garde silhouette. Construction often reveals itself gradually through hidden vents, unconventional seam placement and details that become apparent through movement.

XARIS PROJECT ultimately treats clothing as a study of intersecting systems. Los Angeles and Tokyo, outerwear and tailoring, circle and triangle, structure and fluidity, past visions of the future and contemporary garment construction continually cross within the work. The χ is therefore more than a graphic identity: it describes the method through which the project builds clothes.
