mienisi is an independent fashion and craft boutique located in Okusawa, Setagaya, Tokyo, just a short walk from Jiyugaoka Station. Built around the idea of human connection, the store sees itself as a meeting point between three equally important participants: the people who create, the people who wear, and the people who bring them together.

Rather than approaching fashion through seasons and passing trends, mienisi carefully selects garments and objects with the potential to remain beautiful and meaningful for years to come. Its curation places particular emphasis on craftsmanship, materiality and the individual philosophies of the makers, bringing together independent Japanese and international designers including DEVOA, KLASICA, YANTOR, iolom, MITTAN, YUTA MATSUOKA, tagliovivo and BEAUGAN.

This appreciation for longevity extends beyond the initial purchase. mienisi explores ways in which clothing can continue to evolve alongside its wearer, regularly introducing projects centered around traditional craftsmanship, natural dyeing and re-dyeing. Techniques such as Japanese kakishibu persimmon dyeing and bengara dyeing give existing garments another life, allowing their surfaces, colors and character to change rather than simply be replaced.

Through exhibitions, special projects and a deeply personal approach to selection, mienisi presents the store as more than a place of commerce. It is a space for cultivating relationships between makers, garments and their eventual owners — guided by a respect for objects that are made thoughtfully and intended to be lived with.
