Avant Garde Footwear Collaboration – Leon Emanuel Blanck x Trippen
In an explorative event, Leon Emanuel Blanck and Trippen combined their enigmatic minds to create a unique boot that celebrates the signature elements of the two labels. The Christo finds its existence in merging the fundamental elements of Trippen – the shape of the boot and their iconic sole construction – with movement and asymmetrical lines, characterised by Leon Emanuel Blanck. Leon Emanuel Blanck designs clothing and objects based on a dialogue between movement, material and form. Trippen is renowned for their distinctive and bold soles and uppers. Together, the two brands took the essential elements of both to create a unique boot that celebrates a fusion of their individual identities.
While the fundamental elements such as the shape of the last and the sole construction are based on the integrity of Trippen‘s Closed line, the outer layer of the boot is characterized by the movement of Leon‘s asymmetrical lines, giving the left and right boots their own individual shapes. This outer layer then extends beyond the edge of the sole, giving it the impression of floating above the ground. The left and right pair are symmetrical in appearance, yet asymmetrical in line construction. The idea was wrapping them – like the Arc de Triomphe that was wrapped by Christo in fabric. Concealed by a layer of leather, the LEB x Trippen Christo gives off an illusion of floating boots.
