From the heart of Munich, the creative collective around Distorted People has been designing urban lifestyle fashion for ten years now and has managed to establish the name in the streetwear scene. The memorable logo of the brand is largely responsible for the success of the brand: razor blade and butchers hatchet as crossed blades.
What the twin brothers Huy and Dung Vu started as a small garage company in Munich more than ten years ago has nowadays grown into a professional streetwear label, well-known beyond the borders of Munich. Crew, Lifestyle and Vintage-Fashion for men is the claim.
The first shirts the two brothers produced back in the day when they were bartending and organizing events. One of those events was named “distorted” and when the idea was born to start their own fashion label, they appended “people”. Hence the brand “Distorted People” was established.
Inspiration & philosophy
The inspiration for the brand’s famous blade logo came from the movie “Gangs of New York”. Barber and Butcher resulting in a blade logo with intersecting razor and cleaver and is the core of the brand philosophy:
“The filigree, always an up-to-date way of working of a barber is reflected in our fits and cuts. Whereas the traditional handicraft of a butcher can be found in our distinctive, striking and partly raw prints, the cut collar and the materials. And it is precisely this contrast that characterizes our brand DNA to this day. ”
“Distorted people is not always smooth, but often unadjusted. Our philosophy is to dress our customers well – without uniformizing them. ”
In addition, the brand’s philosophy is based on a strong crew vibe. The investors and supporters to start the label, in the beginning, are people Huy and Dung got to know when working in nightlife and organizing events. As the leap from a bar counter to a serious fashion company was by no means a sure-fire success. Without the support of investors, friends, and supporters of all kinds, the two founders say they would not have been able to succeed. When they struggled the most, Bayern Munich and German Soccer Team football player Bastian Schweinsteiger discovered the brand and supported them. Influencer Marketing to the rescue.
Luckily it all worked out. Distorted People has been producing amazing streetwear fashion pieces for more than ten years and we hope they will continue to do so for a long time.
