About ISŌ
ISŌ is a collaboration project between The Viridi-Anne, Individual Sentiments, and Devoa. Each brand has been in the market for over 15 years. Usually, collaborations are made by people who are completely different from each other to create a singular product(s).
The concept of ISŌ is based on the momentary individuality and essential formation of three substances (brands) becoming one. What if, we treat each aspect of producing a collection – clothing design, textile design, and production management – akin to a band, where each designer is in charge of a different part? We imagine that if each part is handled by a different designer to produce a single product, the three personalities would blend together and a new brand would be created. Each of us has our own brand (individuality).
RTW design: The Viridi-Anne (Tomoaki Okaniwa), Individual Sentiments (Yoko Ito)
Textile design: Devoa (Daisuke Nishida)
Each item is not individually eccentric, but rather of high quality, simple, and calm. However, when layered and worn together, they transform into a complex new style. This is similar to the way a band or orchestra creates a change in sound and a sense of depth by layering the tones of several different instruments with different personalities.
ISŌ’s clothing transforms through layering and coordination, changing in character depending on the person who wears it. All pieces are created primarily from natural fibers. Many of the fabrics are made by mixing two natural fibers (camel hair vs linen, silk vs wool, etc.), creating an expression that focuses on the blending of materials. The colors are also created by dyeing ambiguous intermediate colors at the yarn stage and expressing the different colored yarns as mixed colors in a single fabric.
