And there are multiple Designers out there who mainly base their designs around that principle and who create avant-garde fashion on a superior level.

Exciting avant-garde designers to mention are Boris Bidjan Saberi, Julius, Leon Emanuel Blanck, Isaac Sellam, The Viridi-Anne, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto, M.A+ by Maurizio Amadei, Ziggy Chen, Masnada, Army of Me and thom/krom.

Boris Bidjan Saberi

The designer Boris Bidjan Saberi is well-known for his avant-garde fashion designs which are inspired by numerous references like the skate culture, street style, and hip-hop. Born to a German mother and a Persian father, the heritage of European and Middle-Eastern culture is strongly reflected in his designs. In addition, the number eleven is one of his identity points often used in his designs – the number of his birthday.

Julius

The Japanese label Julius, also known as Julius 7, was founded by Tatsuro Horikawa and designs Avant Garde Dark Fashion since 2004. A Monochrome color palette is used across all collections, representing madness and pain, andare often combined with oversized bohemian cuts.

Leon Emanuel Blanck

LEON EMANUEL BLANCK plays with seams and the human body, its’ interaction, and reaction with the material. Studying the interplay of the natural and unnatural. His designs are greatly influenced by the Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi genre which usually is avant-garde already. As a result, his creations are absolutely extraordinary and the approaches revolutionary.

Isaac Sellam

Isaac Sellam is internationally known for his strong expertise in creating leatherwear with an extraordinary avant-garde touch. His designer signature piece is a metal-staple rack which is absolutely avant-garde itself.

The Viridi-Anne

Ann Demeulemeester

Ann Demeulemeester is well-known for designing Elegant Dark Glamorous Aesthetic Fashion for over three decades. The eponymous label was launched back in 1985 and held its fashion show debut in Paris in 1991. With the launch of the menswear line, the brand was one of the first to showcase both men’s and women’s collections in one presentation.

Rick Owens is an American fashion designer, well-known for avant-garde luxurious grunge fashion pieces. So is his appearance, the appearance of his wife Michèle Lamy, and his androgyne presentations at his fashion shows.

Yohji Yamamoto

Yohji Yamamoto is well-known for avant garde and oversized, deconstruced and asymmetrical fashion pieces. The natural asymmetry of the body inspires him to create equally asymmetrical cuts, voluminous silhouettes, and deconstruction of familiar forms. He drapes and wraps according to Japanese tradition, plays with the movement of clothing, and layers many layers of fabric on top of each other.

M.A+ by Maurizio Amadei

M.A+ is the label by Italian designer Maurizio Amadei. Usage of innovative folding techniques, original cuts, and selecting unique fabrics is what the label is well-known for, as well as the designer’s fascination with experimenting with structure.

Ziggy Chen
