Paris Fashion Week FW22 Avantgarde Streetwear Highlights
Paris Fashion Week in January 2022 again largely took place digitally due to the pandemic. Check out the Avantgarde Streetwear Highlights for Fall/Winter 2022/2023 from the designers Jan-Jan Van Essche, Juun.J, Ziggy Chen, Yohji Yamamoto and Rick Owens:
Jan-Jan Van Essche Fall/Winter 2022/2023 – Project #10 A Horizon
The Jan-Jan Van Essche AW22 collection is an attempt to create while clearing the mind of obstructions and merely trusting the unknown. Trying to overrule distortion and to rise above the unnecessary noise, longing for a new paradigm; a contemporary way of understanding the whole and each other. Breaking through prevailing conditioning that limits the exploration of what we no longer perceive and desperately seek to re-establish. A HORIZON is a collaborative fashion film directed by Ramy Moharam Fouad on the Fall/Winter 2022/2023 Collection “Project#10 A HORIZON” from Antwerp based designer Jan-Jan Van Essche.
Juun.J Fall/Winter 2022/2023 – JUUN.JSET
Juun.J Fall-Winter 2022 Collection “JUUN.JSET” was inspired by the photographs of jet-setters in the 60-70s at the airport, filled with their confident attitude, as well as the styles from pop-stars representing newness and youth.
Ziggy Chen Fall/Winter 2022/2023 – Illusaits
The Ziggy Chen AW22 Collection ILLUSAITS is a crasis of Illusion and Portraits, telling us of a reality filtered by a dreamlike state of consciousness.
Yohji Yamamoto Fall/Winter 2022/2023
“(…) This Yohji Yamamoto collection was at once innovative and comfortingly consistent. In these crazy days, we have a real need for pillars of strength and integrity, and Yamamoto stands for both. He has an enormous body of work on which to draw and wisdom to impart. The time-traveling aspects of this collection, referencing Artful Dodgers and other rebels, remind us of our connection to the past, and a shared history that comes from storytelling.” – By Laird Borrelli Persson for Vogue runway.
Rick Owens Fall/Winter 2022/2023
Excerpt from the personal notes by Rick Owens about the AW22/23 collection: “In this age of immediate gratification and meta-self-invention more than ever before, maybe indulging my id is ultimately the wisest path. The languorous glamasleazy light seekers in this collection reflect that mood.”
